Pam Jenkins, professor of sociology, was interviewed live on the WWL-TV Eyewitness Morning News about UNO-CHART’s new risk literacy guide.
July, 2011:
Pamela Jenkins, Professor of Sociology at UNO, along with Rachel Nicolosi, Director of the Literacy Alliance of Greater New Orleans at Loyola University taped a “Senior Profile” segment — a show that informs, educates, and entertains the older adults and their caregivers in the city of New Orleans. They were interviewed by host and Executive Director of the New Orleans Council On Aging, Howard Rodgers III and discussed the recently developed teaching manual on Preparing for Storms for low-level readers. This manual was created as part of the Risk Literacy project under the FEMA funded Community Education and Outreach grant awarded through the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. The show airs on COX cable TV channel 99 every Thursday of July 2011 at 9 AM and again at 9 PM.
